Jews are certifying Latinos as Jewish to gain Spanish citizenship

Years ago I warned of the folly of the Spanish law that grants citizenship to those “descended” from the Jews expelled by Ferdinand and Isabella in 1492.

Particularly sinister was the fact that Jews would be able to certify who was “Jewish” for the purpose of gaining this citizenship.

This was something the Jews specifically lobbied for.

Shlomo Amar, former Sephardic chief rabbi of Israel, spoke of the role he played in negotiations with the Spanish government and boasted: “The rabbis will decide which Israelis get to be Spanish.”

And not just Israelis.

The Jews are now conferring honorary Jewishness on Christian Latinos – to help them invade Spain by claiming to be Jewish under the absurd Jewish citizenship law.

Rob Martínez is a proud New Mexican, proud of his culture and proud of a genealogy that mingles indigenous ancestry and descent from the Spanish soldiers and settlers who arrived in the area in the late 15th century.

Martínez is also profoundly disturbed by Donald Trump’s tirades against Latin American immigrants and the social tensions they have stirred up.

“When President Trump speaks so badly of Mexican and of Hispanic people, it obviously makes me really sick,” says Martínez, who is New Mexico’s deputy state historian.

“Round here, they say he’s only talking about criminals and illegal immigrants. But I say, ‘No. He’s talking about all of us. He’s got something against Mexico … and against all Latin American people.’”

Martínez is one of a growing number of US Hispanic people looking towards their family’s European past as a possible means of safeguarding their future.

He recently began the process of trying to obtain Spanish citizenship under a law that offers it to the descendants of the Sephardic Jews who were expelled from the country in 1492, forced to convert to Catholicism or burned at the stake.

“I’m very proud of my past and my culture,” says Martínez. “And that’s why I want to see whether I can become a Spanish citizen. I have Catholic, Jewish and Moorish roots there.”

…Applications received by the Jewish Federation of New Mexico, which has been certifying applicants’ Sephardic heritage, suggest Martínez is not alone in seeking an insurance policy in the form of Spanish citizenship.

This is a typically dishonest or ignorant account of the actual history. No Jews were forced to convert to Catholicism as a matter of government policy. Only in popular riots, when the government itself has lost control of the situation, might Jews have been faced with the option of “convert or die”. This was very rare. It’s also untrue to say that Jews were burnt at the stake. The Inquisition had no power over Jews. Its remit extended only to Christians. Only people claiming to be Christian could have come within its power.

As I have made clear in numerous articles, the Jews collaborated with the Muslims during their invasion of Spain. Therefore Spaniards owe them no moral debt. Indeed, mere expulsion was an extraordinarily mild requital for the harm the Spanish people suffered under Muslim occupation, which, most likely, would never have come about absent Jewish scheming.

Most people don’t understand the nature of gene dissemination. They conceptualise descent as being something much narrower than it really is. The truth is that when people live together in the same place for a prolonged period of time, almost everyone ends up being related to everyone else.

It’s said, for example, that, until the recent invasion of sub-Saharans and sub-Continentals, 90% of the population of England was descended from William the Conqueror. Most people in western Europe are descended from Charlemagne.

All it takes is a few Jews to emigrate to Morocco, convert to Islam and their genes then start zinging through the Moroccan population.

So, the number of people descended from the Jews expelled from Spain could be huge, with potentially vast offshoots in North Africa, the Middle East, Turkey, Israel and Latin America. Remember that the entire Ashkenazi population is descended from around 300 people in the 13th century, only a couple of centuries before the time of Ferdinand and Isabella.

This is Sara Koplik. With the Jewish Federation of New Mexico, she is helping certify the Sephardi heritage of people who want to apply for Spanish citizenship as “Jews”. Does this look like the kind of person we can trust to make the right decision?
