Children in uniform parade with fake guns at a mosque…in Germany

A mosque in Herford, Germany, has published photos and videos on its web page showing children parading in uniform carrying fake firearms as a giant Turkish flag is laid out on the floor in front of them. After an outraged public reaction from press and politicians, most of the photos and videos were removed.

The mosque, like many mosques in Germany, operates under the DITIB Islamic association, which is controlled by the Turkish government. DITIB claims the event was intended to commemorate the fighting at Gallipoli in the First World War, during which an Allied invasion was repelled by the Turks.
